ABOUT US
Mandarin Academy was founded in 2009 by three families who sought a learning space that taught Mandarin very efficiently while still feeling like a warm, friendly environment. These families did not speak any Chinese in their homes so the students needed individualized support to learn this foreign language. To accomplish this task, they teamed up with veteran teacher Lisa Su (Su Lao Shi) to create a new kind of school. Su Lao Shi's strong educational program that she has developed over the years is highly effective & fun at the same time!
Throughout the years, a multitude of non-native Mandarin-speaking students from Mandarin Academy has gone on to pass the AP Mandarin Exam in High School, translated for their families both while traveling through Asia, and conversed effortlessly with native Mandarin speakers. The solid background established within the school has also helped students to achieve success in other areas of academics too. From being on the Dean's list to placement within the advanced mathematics and English language arts classes in middle school, the strong elementary education foundation laid by Mandarin Academy has proven effective.
